Changes to Fees

posted 3 May 2012, 13:50 by Luke Vanhegan

We've done our best to keep swimming fees as low as possible over the last 6 years, but increasing costs have meant that we sadly now need to increase our fees.

As you probably already know, your swimming club is run entirely by volunteers on a not-for-profit basis, and aims to provide affordable swimming lessons for children in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

The committee have managed to keep lesson fees pretty much unchanged since 2006, through good management of the clubs funds.  However, over the last few years, operating costs, such as pool hire and ASA fees have increased by over 50%, which have not been passed on to club members.

To make sure that the club can continue, after very careful consideration we are left with no choice but increase lesson fees.  Our objectives have been to keep the increase as low as possible, while protecting the club from anticipated cost increases in the next two years.

However, although this is not an ideal situation, we are planning to use it as an opportunity to move to payment by regular monthly standing order.  The aim of this move is to spread the cost of payments over the whole year and remove the need for cheques.  Payment by cheque every half term will still be an option for club members.

We are aiming to have standing orders in place for the start of June.

HOW WILL WE MAKE THE MOVE TO STANDING ORDER?

Standing order forms will be available at the desk on Saturdays and Tuesdays.  The forms will contain the necessary bank details for you to set up a standing order.

To assist in the transfer from cheque payments to standing orders we shall have an additional desk set up from Saturday 5th May to complete the necessary forms.

WHAT ARE THE NEW FEES?

The new fees will take the form of a single monthly payment, payable for all 12 months of the year.

The single monthly fee is made up of two parts:

1.       The club membership fee (different amount depending on type of membership).

2.       Lesson fees per child.

You can work out your monthly fee using this table:

Membership Fee

(choose one)

Lesson Fee

(per child)

Adult only: £1.60

1 child: £11.30

Adult & 1 child: £3.20

2 children: £22.60

=

£ Monthly Fee

Family: £4.80

3 Children: £33.90

4 children: £45.20

Example:

For a Family with 3 children, where one child has a lesson on Tuesday, the second child has a lesson on Saturday, and the third child is too young for lessons, the monthly cost is £4.80 + £22.60 = £27.40.
